Introduction
As part of summer training at Bennett University, I opted for three courses in Computer Science and one in Business Administration. This review blog will evaluate the course outcomes and how they helped enhance my knowledge on these topics.
This course takes approximately 120 hours to complete, and the content on modern operating systems is helpful for developers and users of Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS.
This course introduced me to new topics such as Solaris, VxWorks, and QNX. It also explains the concepts of memory management, file systems, security, and networking. The course content combines theory and videos with a few simulation labs.
This course takes approximately 62 hours to complete and is the only certification under Business Administration. The content is insightful when doing any project in any domain.
I learned about organizational design and the importance of each phase in a project. More importantly, I realized the essence of emotional intelligence in a workplace, teamwork and collaboration, and conflict management.
This course takes approximately 40 hours to complete and skims all basics from variables, data types, and operators to conditions, loops, functions, and arrays. It also covers object-oriented programming (OOP) topics: classes and objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, templates, file manipulation, operator overloading, and exception handling.
What I liked about this particular course is that there are practice sets on each topic covered in a unit. The exercises helped with my practical knowledge and made programming more effortless.
This course takes approximately 18 hours to complete and prefers technical background with some coding experience. It shows how Bitcoin works behind the scenes and what it takes.
Is there anyone who isn’t familiar with bitcoin and cryptocurrency at this point? I was curious to learn more about the working of Bitcoin and the cryptographic algorithms used; the content provides the basic knowledge required on bitcoin transactions and wallets and the mining process.
Conclusion
Saylor Academy is a great platform to earn free certificates and enhance your skills. The course content is structured methodically, and I prefer theory to video tutorials, and Saylor offers both. The study guide at the end of every course is helpful when you want a summary or recollection of what you have learned. I had a great experience this summer with Saylor to better myself.
